Current Sermon Series – 2 Corinthians
2 Corinthians is a letter written by the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth in about 55 AD. Paul originally spent 18 months in Corinth planting a church, before going to the next city to plant a church. But it wasn’t long after he had moved on that the news came to him that the church in Corinth wasn’t doing so well. There were divisions, immorality, immaturity, and some false apostles had infiltrated the church. So, Paul ended up writing four letters to lovingly rebuke, correct, and teach them about what they should believe and how they should behave as Christians. Today we only have two of these letters (1 & 2 Corinthians)—1 Corinthians being the second (5:9), and 2 Corinthians being the fourth.
There are many themes in 2 Corinthians, including suffering and hardships (chapter 1, 11, 12), church discipline (chapter 2 and 7), death and heaven (chapter 5), the blessing of giving (chapters 8 & 9),
